While the primary purpose of beekeepers’ associations is for the education and support of the beekeepers themselves, they can be a great resource for honey lovers. Generally speaking, beekeepers are gregarious and friendly. They love to talk about their work (or hobby), and of course they would be glad to sell their wares. And while some are focused on wholesale quantities, many are happy to sell a jar or two. An association is a great place to get contact information and learn a bit about the honey producers and the local environment. Look for news of events and fairs where beekeepers may be selling their wares. Ask about farmer’s markets and local distributors.
